How do you unit test an Airflow DAG?

Solution

Test that:

  • DAG loads successfully
  • Expected tasks exist
  • Dependencies are correct
  • Operators are configured correctly
  • Important task logic works

Airflow 2.5+ provides dag.test() for local test-oriented runs without full production deployment.

Also use pytest to assert structure (dag.task_dict, upstream/downstream sets).
