Task is up_for_retry: what does it mean?

Easyairflow-32
retriesstates

Question

A task is in up_for_retry. What does that mean?

Solution

It means the task failed, but Airflow will try again according to retry config.

retries=3
retry_delay=timedelta(minutes=5)

Attempt 1 fails → wait 5 min → Attempt 2 → … After retries are exhausted, the task fails.

Interview tip: up_for_retry is temporary; final failure comes after retries are used up.
