Beginners who need a path from “what is a table” through warehouse SQL and Python ingest, and working engineers who want on-call practice: broken pipelines, EXPLAIN budgets, and SCD Type 2 merges. Completing lessons is practice, not a certification, and it does not guarantee a job.
Lakebench was founded and built by Hunnurji Rao, an engineer operating large-scale data lakehouses and production pipelines. Most data engineering interview prep is either generic algorithmic LeetCode that never appears on the job, or passive video lectures where you watch someone else write code.
Lakebench was built to give data engineers honest, interactive, hands-on practice in the browser: running real DuckDB queries, compiling PySpark and Pandas transforms with Pyodide, analyzing partition skew, and diagnosing pipeline failures without needing a cloud account or a multi-thousand-rupee cluster bill.
All 45-day curriculum blueprints, challenges, assertions, and dataset schemas are engineered in-house based on real production data lakehouse scenarios and real technical interview patterns. We strictly avoid scraping confidential company question banks or NDA material, and we do not invent fabricated placement metrics, fake alumni, or misleading testimonials.
