Online SQL, Python and PySpark compiler
Run SQL, Python, Pandas and PySpark code in your browser against real warehouse tables. There is nothing to install, and you do not need an account to start.
Online SQL compiler
Write joins, CTEs and window functions and run them against preloaded orders, payments and events tables. Results show up as a table you can check line by line.
Online Python compiler
Run Python scripts for parsing records, dictionaries, generators and algorithm drills. Nothing to install and no virtual environment to set up.
Online PySpark and Pandas practice
Practice DataFrame joins, aggregations, window functions and deduplication without a Spark cluster, so you can focus on the logic interviewers ask about.
Why practise in a compiler built for data engineering
General-purpose online compilers give you an empty editor. Data engineering interviews give you tables, duplicates, late events and joins that change the row count. The LakeBench sandbox starts with connected warehouse tables, so you can practise the mistakes that happen at work: fan-out after a join, NULL handling, and the wrong grain.
When you are ready for structure, follow a learning track, try the interview problems, or read the data engineering roadmap.
Common questions
- Is the compiler free?
- Yes. The sandbox is free to open and needs no signup. Some of the guided problems and the 45-day plan are paid, and the free set is clearly marked.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. Your code runs inside the browser tab, so there is no database, Python install or Spark cluster to set up.
- What data can I query?
- The sandbox comes with the same warehouse tables used across LakeBench lessons and problems: orders, order items, payments and events.
- Can I use it for interview practice?
- Yes. Open the sandbox to experiment, then move to the problem sets, where hidden test cases check your answer the way an interview would.
